Replacing your malfunctioning Mercedes Engine Control Unit/Module (ECU/ECM) or Engine Management Electronics (ME) is not as simple as finding a good working used unit for replacement.
Due to the onboard Driver Authorization System (DAS) found in your vehicle, this system locks the module to your vehicle, devoting it to operate on the originating vehicle only, and non-others!
From the dealerships perspective, the only solution is replacement with new OEM parts, and the associated re-programming to re-initialize the module using the Mercedes SDS scan tool.
As a lower cost alternative, MBCluster is able to adapt for re-use, a good working donor ECU as a replacement for your original. Two methods can be employed, the first is a straight copy or clone of the original to the donor ECU. The other method is called blanking, renewing or virginizing, which puts the donor ECU into a "like new" condition, and can then be recoded to the vehicle using the Mercedes scan tool. Both methods involve disassembly of the ECU, and desoldering or interfacing with the vital microchips which store the DAS information. In the clone method, since it creates an identical match, no programming is required by the Mercedes scan tool afterwards.
MBCluster can help replace your defective ECU to original specifications, and provide proper operation of your Engine Management Electronics. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
